Programs & Services

At Access to Independence, there is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to assisting our consumers. Disabilities come in many forms and every individual requires a personalized plan for assistance. By offering a variety of programs and services, we continue our efforts to promote advocacy and transition for our consumers – both of which are integral to full independent living.

Our advocacy programs typically take the form of information, education and referral — working with our consumers to teach independent living skills, assess which further resources will be of assistance, and giving consumers the tools they need to move forward as their own advocate.

Transition can take on many meanings; our consumers may be transitioning into the community, to employment or into a new home. One thing that we can be sure of is that transition is all-encompassing. It’s a process – a change in consciousness, emotional state and lifestyle. While each individual needs to go through that process at their own pace and in their own way, we have the resources to help our consumers’ transition to living a more independent life.
