Francisco Javier Urtasun, San Diego Gas & Electric
Francisco “Frank” J. Urtasun has been employed with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and its parent company Sempra Energy for 30 years. During this time, he has held several management positions. Currently, Urtasun is the Regional Vice President of External Relations at San Diego Gas & Electric Company. Committed to the disability community, Frank is proud that at SDG&E,® diversity is not only a corporate commitment, but one that is deeply woven into the fabric of its culture. With a diverse customer base of 3.4 million within a 4,100 square mile service area, it is SDG&E’s commitment to have a workforce that is a reflection of the diverse communities it serves, including hiring and retaining people with disabilities.
Prior to his career at Sempra Energy, he started in the construction industry building both single and multi-family residential projects of his own.
Urtasun has served on various public and private boards and commissions. For almost ten years, he served as Port Commissioner, serving as Chairman during 1994 and 2001 for the San Diego Unified Port District, and has been awarded the life-time Commissioner Emeritus position.
Urtasun has received several awards and recognitions. Most noteworthy, in 2007, he was recognized as the “Top Ten Lifetime San Diegans” award by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Southwestern College and San Diego State University. He was recognized as Outstanding Alumni and was awarded the President’s Honorary Degree from Southwestern College in 1996. He is also one of the top 100 graduates recognized by SDSU in 1997. Urtasun and his wife, Caren reside in Coronado with their two grown children.
Caren Louise Huftill-Urtasun, Southwesterly Properties
Caren Louise Huftill-Urtasun was born in Naples Italy and raised in a Navy family on the east coast of the United States prior to moving to San Diego. Currently, she is president of Southwesterly Properties, a residential single and multi-family property management firm. Prior to this, Caren owned and operated a small mobile glass and screen construction company. She has built and renovated single and multi-family projects of her own. Caren lives in Coronado with her husband Frank and together they have two grown children.
